help dechrome my rims

was wondering what the best way is to get the chrome or plastichrome off my stock savage x rims because i want to paint them black also what paint would work the best thanx in advance for any help:FarleyParty:

Maybe a bench grinder with a soft abrasive wheel on it. I'd try a dremel also.

For the amount of work involved, it might be a lot less painful to buy a set of black Warlocks-I see them for around $20 a set on Ebay. Besides, you'll never have to worry about paint flaking/scraping off.

thanks for the input ya at 20 for rims it hardly worth the time and effort the paint alone would be 5.00 ill have a look around because i don't like the tires anyway i don't like how they expand when going faster can anybody recomend a tire that holds its shape at speed and also good for bashing

I read somewhere if you strap a piece of duct tape into the inside of the tire wall it helps eliminate the ballooning.

Also any i think any tire with some beef to it will balloon at high speed.

I run Nubz tires on my truck and have not as much ballooning compared to the GT2's..

I believe even 40 series tires will balloon due to centrifugal force, but not as much as taller stance tires such as the GT2's.

Belted tires also help keep the ballooning to a minimum.

i got the chrome off my rims by soaking them in bleach...but the paint kept chipping off after i painted them...imo jus go buy new rims

Well he can bleach then dye the rims also. But like mentioned before it would probably just be simpliar to buy a set off ebay.

I just noticed that SMFstore.com normally has them for $10/pair too. They're out right now tho...

spray some simple green on them let soak about 20 min then rinse
