genuine hpi pullstart dismantle ?

Hiya all, I Have just replaced my pullstart on my savage x and was wondering if its worth keeping the old one and try to fix it, the string does not return so i think a spring has come off but i have no idea how to get into it ?.

Keep it pull it apart you will see how it works they are a pain to redo but worth it if you replace it everytime it breaks you will spend a ton of money on pullstarts. Hint for cords use the cords off of mini blinds.

yeah but how do i pull it apart without damaging it as it looks sealed.

There is a hole next to where the cord goes into the pull start. Just use that hole to pry the plastic ring off. It just pops out/in.

even if its messed up, save it for the pull cord & other salvageable parts
