i am on the hunt to replace my clutch, clutch bell, spur, the whole nine yards.
right now i have been running the axial .28 with the stock clutch set up from the old .21 and gear (15T) the spur i have been runing is (49T) now I'm not good with gearing but i like this combo. i tried a 47T spur and was dissapointed.
i guess what i need to know is, what do i need to buy as far as the flywheel clutch and gearing to keep it as close to what i had but make it alittle better (a bit quicker off the line would be nice but i don't want a wheely king) thanks for any help

What i need to buy
Dynamite Max - Life Clutch shoes $24.00
Mugen 1.0MM Springs $4.00
Robinson Racing 14T CB $19.00
HPI X 49T spur $4.00

So I'm running 3.267 with the 15/49 set up

what about the 16/52 thats 3.250

what would the difference be faster on the low end? i know its close but that is the sweet spot I'm trying to sytay arround.

other question is about the cluthch
any suggestions?

The larger the number = more torque and lower speeds

The lower the number = less torque and higher speeds

Now this does not factor in tires, if you are running large tires you will need more torque.

Good luck and hope this helped

49/14 3.500 so i would probebley like this for alittle more takeoff would this kill my top end? i was @ a 3.267
and what about the clutch I'm still rumming stock

It all depends on what you want, more speed or more snap off the line. CB/SG is just one factor, there are different clutch materials and spring weights that all have to be considered.

You might want to consider the 3 speed tranny with the high speed 3rd if you are looking for the best of both worlds.

Me personally I have been very happy with the performance of the stock clutch and gearing in my 4.6SS racer @ 47/17 with LPR Crime Fighters for a Truggy and 6MM extended LCG race TVP's. It is very stable and does not wheely on the track. I can get it to wheely on the pavement though.

i just want a good clutch and good gearing like i said before i want to keep it close to the 15/49 gears but i would like alittle more off the line without killing alot of top end. say i stick with the 15/49 gears is their a better clutch i can get for better takeoff? the clutch I'm running is stock

I'm rumming pretty low profile dirtbones i think i have the gearing figured out now what flywheel and clutch/springs like i said I'm still running stock

I'm running the 16/52 combo in my XL with the terra-pinn tires and I like it. Now that the 5.9 is running good it is a wheely machine and to me it hauls on the straights still. I'd say I'm getting at least forty mph by the looks of it. Not as fast as many guys here are, but the only time I can get it that fast for any length of time is running it up and down a straight paved street anyway lol. Bottom end is killer now, and running 225-245 degrees depending on airflow and tank level. Have to learn how to balance on that HPI wheeie bar though. It's kinda tough to get it right. You can get it to do some pretty long wheel stands though. BTW I'm running the Dynamite Max-Life clutch shoes and they hit pretty hard. It looks faster than forty but I know with my gearing it's not really that likely to go more than 42 or 43, I think I read that somewhere.

I know quite a few others here use, or used to use, them before getting something else like the fiorini (sp?) clutch setup. I like them a lot, so far they seem to grab better than the HPI aluminum shoes. They have a rough texture which seems like it would be better than the smooth HPI ones. That roughness may just be a coating though. I have not inspected them yet since putting them in, but my XL wheelies like a champ now and I tried and tried before but couldn't get it to wheelie.

I thought I would mention that I did use my stock HPI springs from the k5.9 with the DYN5180 shoes. They did not lock in as tightly as with the HPI shoes because of a slightly different angle but I have been running them for almost a gallon with no problems.

I noticed a difference when i put the mugens on. More responsive.
