gearing question

I have a savage xl and I am going to be putting proline bow tie 40 series tires on it.

I was looking for an opinion on what size clutch bell and spur gear would be best to run.

I do not do a lot of bashing, I am at the local track and just driving the truck in fields most of the time. So I am not looking for wheelie power.

What I am looking for is good low end for taking off but good topspeed.

I was thinking either 17/47 or 18/47...possibly 19/47

Any opinions would be appreciated

With the 5.9 I would run 17/47

Should give you the power your looking for.. Putting those tires, changing the gear ratio will mess w/ your shift points .. Be Aware

Ya, I know it will mess with my shift points. But that is where the fun is in this whole change up haha. For some reason when I got my xl the whole tranny was out of whack, so I had to fart around with it countless times anyways....so why not do it again.
