how can i tell which box i got in my savage x 4.6 was told it was 3 speed but i am not sure and also can you hear them change gear like an auto car forgive me if this sounds stupid but i have heard them change on you tube

if you can't hear them shift take the lid off the top of the tranny box (should be 4 screws) and take a look inside..

This is what my internals look like.. Mine may look a touch different as i have high speed gears installed..


In this thread here you can also get the 3 speed manuel and make the proper adjustments to make it shift properly.. Let me also add this is alot easier to adjust if you use the stock wheels.

Most X's come 3 speed "ready" but it doesn't come installed.. Meaning you have the box but not the internals.

Thats a 2 speed.. Id set back to factory settings and go from there.

that is a two speed turn the adjuster all the way in till it stops and run it. that will be first gear. It will not shift if the motor is not tuned to full performance. It also should not be adjusted if the motor is not fully tuned
