futaba failsafe? fsu2

I have a quick question for you guys, so i just bought a futaba failsafe for the savy and on the instructions it says only to be used with nicd batteries for the receiver? iam a bit confused has/does anyone use(d) it with a NiMH battery? thanks for any help in advance
