i just ordered a savage XL and I wonder what fuel I should you use in it? I currently have an hpi bullet mt 3.0 that have over 3 years. My local store gave me 25% CRF power fuel from team Orion,since then my bullet MT is still running good and have no engine issue. So do you know some good nitro fuel so I can get long lifetime and good performances for the XL motor ? Since I heard that the engine might have some problem I prefer to ask so I can get long lifetime with it.

Most any QUALITY fuel will serve the purpose. Sidewinder is my go to fuel for all my nitro rigs

yes, sidewinder. odonells, and byrons are good fuels, remember for long life of any motor, doing the crucial brake in makes a big difference. heating motor up to around 160 to 220. and may take half a gallon to a gallon of fuel to get broke in. just for resource, here on this site and youtube there is a lot of info to help! It could be the difference in a couple extra gallons of fuel through motor, also when you buy one, pull carb out and seal it up before hand, saves headache! Good luck!

I ran 20% for years, then when I got my first LRP28, the manual suggested 25%, so I gave it a try. I also started running it in my other rigs and they all ran well, so instead of keeping 2 types of fuel, I just went with 25% on everything. When I ran 20% much later in the LRP while out bashing with friends, it didn't run nearly as well. It ran ok, but didn't have the pep I was used to.
I prefer byrons 2500 gen 2 race blend.
I've tried odonnels and didn't care for it in any of my rigs. I liked how it smelled, was less acrid than other fuels, but it ran hot for me in all 4 of my trucks. Either I ran blubbery rich, or hot. Didn't have much middle ground with it.

No, replacing the stock tank with a 125cc buggy tank did that.
For some reason, the LRP's were really susceptible to the HTL issue. I literally tore off the LRP28 I had on there (after changing carbs, lines, primer ball, resealing the engine, changing the pipe...) and threw on an LRP30. Then after break-in, it exhibited the exact same temp issues. Well, really, half way through break-in. It wasn't until I found a replacement tank for my old worn out OFNA tank did the LRP30 snap to life and become stable. No matter how rich I set it, it ran hot, 300F hot. Hot and awful. Putting a new 125cc tank on it and it was a whole new animal. Idled all day, tuned as expected and tons of power, all while staying below 250F even after a hard run.
Run time is a measly 8-9 minutes per tank, but it's a good clean smile inducing run. I just have to keep an eye on the fuel level because when it goes empty, the tune doesn't change at all so it just dies.

Yes, I had an htl issue with my lrp, got frustrated , yanked it and sold it ,well just got a new picco boost ,28 turbo and no issues what so ever. I was very worried about the htl with it. all good.!

I know some people had issues with the revo fuel tank on their revo's having a similar issue, but I've had 2 different LRP's on my BB revo and they run fine on it with the 150cc tank. Not sure why I had such issues with them on the savage with it's tank, but it was a night and day difference once I swapped the tank out for my LRP30.
Previously, my LRP28 worked ok on my savage with my previous OFNA tank, but the tank was old and not sealing any longer, spilling fuel all over. OFNA had discontinued the tank I was using, then OFNA shut down completely, so I was trying the HPI tank. Tried 2 old tanks I had and bought a new HPI tank. I tried a new carb, tried a couple different pipes, tried the HPI tanks, tried raising the tanks... All 3 ran like crap with the 28, which is why I thought maybe the engine was just a dud, so I got the 30. Then it had the exact same problem. What was odd is that it seemed ok for the first 3 tanks of break-in, then it just went downhill from there. Literally went from running 220F constant to 300F+ from one tank to the next.
Then I found another 125cc ofna tank that was a pretty uniform shape, bolted it on and was able to get the 30 dialed in without any fuss. Ran 2000+ cc's through it after the new tank and it just got stronger and stronger.
