hi guys,
I'm new to electric rc, so bear with me. i just got the savage flux n start running it without setting the esc(didnt know untill a friend told me). should have read the manual first,my bad. after running it for 20 mins the pinion came loose. so i put thread lock liquid on the nut on the pinion and immediately ran it again. after 5 mins the pinion came loose again and this time the pinion teeth melted. why did it melt, is it because i did not do the esc set-up? were did i go wrong?

so i saw a spare pinion in the box but it was 25t. but in the manual there is a chart for spur n pinion combo. by looking at the chart 44/25 can only b use if using 3sx2 lipos. well,I'm using 2sx2 lipos, so i cant run it yet untill i change the right spur n pinion combo for 2s?
i heard that if i do run 44/25 on 2sx2 lipos it wil heat up the esc, is this right?
pls help...

found out it was my own mistake, i positioned the pinion n spur the wrong way. my bad, sorry guys.

i bought 19t pinion n using stock 44t spur so that means more low end, less top speed?(compared to 20/44) pls correct me if I'm wrong.

I had similar issue today when i ran my flux for the very first time. The pinion kept coming loose. So every 5 to 8 minutes, i had to tighten it. Is there a way to make it really tight? But obviously i need to take that pinion out when its time to change to a new one so permanent tight is also bad i guess. Well for me i did not fry my pinion. Mine is still in good condition. Its just that its irritating to tighten it every 5 to 8 mins.

try the blue first.

most guys are using red and letting it set for a couple hours first.

had same problem with pinion coming loose. I finally ditched the blue and put on red thread lock and torqued the hell out of it...I couldnt wait for it to sit though...works great go red!

But when i wanna remove it in the future then will i have to struggle to take that pinion out? Or how is the removing done?

I think it's coming loose since punch control is disabled on stock ESC settings and that releases all the torque at once and the pinion slips. When you use loctite, do you put it onto the grub screw or also on the motor shaft?
