Gday all, got my parts back from the ano shop today so I can finally start put my flux back together. I don't like all the gunk that accumulates on the drive cups and dog bones, so I'm trying out some dry lube to see how it work, also used it on the ring and pinion so I done get grease leaking out all the time. :Xfingers:

From having 5 colours

and now only two

will go nicely with my orange TCS tvp's.

The shock bodies and a-arm shock mounts I got hard anodised for hopefully some scratch resistance.

Man that thing is going to look SWEEEEET!!! Make sure you get some pics of it going together!!!

Shocks

Thanks for the props guys :resp:. Yeah the orange came out great. It cost me $100 for the lot a little more then I was expecting, but I haven't had parts hard ano'd before so maybe that bumped up the cost.

Anyway done the shocks. I didn't have enough 40wt so I used 50wt coz I want to get it going this weekend hopefully.

TIP for first timers make sure you get all the air out of the fluid. Be patient it could take a while.

Now for the rear end.

Rear end has 20k fluid and is shimmed up nice. I'm using Platinum Products wing mount plate and wing stay, so I moved the shocks to the front of the tower so I don't have to mod anything. I couldn't find M3 screws long enough so I used threaded rod instead.

Now up front I got rid of the rx box and replaced it with PP mid tank plate. I relocated the servo under the plate so I could moved the ESC up front. I'm just going to wrap the RX in a balloon. Will mounting the antenna (2.4gig) close to the esc cause any glitching?

I'm knackered and can't be stuffed doing anymore, so that will do until tomorrow. 😛eace:

SWEEEET!!! Love the custom wheelie bar...What wieght oil are you using in it? Let us know how it works..😛eace:

Thanks guys. I was testing it with the bumper on and it was way to soft, no surprise there seeing it's untouched. I did notice it's leaking around the shaft which is a bit of a worry seeing it has been used on the truck. When it was apart I used plenty of green slim on the shaft seals so fingers crossed. So for the fluid the thickest shock fluid I've got is 60wt which wont be enough, so I've mixed up a brew of 50% 7000wt diff fluid and 50% 30wt and according to the RC Calculations site, http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_oil_mixer.html I should have around 500wt now. I'm waiting for the air bubbles to vent at the moment, it's a lot firmer now.

As for it works I just hoping it doesn't get ripped on the first time I land badly:bigsmilie:. But what ever happens I left you guys know.

Does anyone know the Dia' of micro t axles? I've got 3 & 4mm rod to make an axle. I'm thinking of maybe trying micro t wheels & tyres if it survives testing with some cheap aeroplane wheels.

I set up the steering, sort of :Xfingers:.
The servo isn't well positioned to line up with the steering arm so I rigged it up like this.

DSCF1220.jpg

I tested it and it not binding, but I had to drop the epa to 40 on the right,
DSCF1219.jpg

as 41 just touches the servo mount, thats no problem the cross pin starts to pull out of the cups if it went any further.
DSCF1203.jpg

It seems to work OK, but only time will tell. It will clear the drive shaft but it's close.
What do you guys think should I reposition the servo? I don't really want to drill more holes in the carbon plate.
If I swapped the servo saver to the other side would the steering still work correctly?

Thanks guys for your advice, but I think I fixed it without having to drill more holes. I swapped the the saver to the other side and trimmed the arm a little so it will still work.
I cut this flat because it was binding with the turnbuckle brace.
DSCF1224.jpg

I used a round file here to allow the arm to clear here also trimmed a little of the end just to be safe.
DSCF1223.jpg

I got it all hooked up and it seems to be working fine.

can you mount your shocks on the other side of the tower to avoid cuttin off the braces?

lotta coin riding in them boxes.

With the shocks on the back of the tower the wing mount is in the way of the shock brace.

I'm only removing one screw and I'll tape the other to take a 4mm screw, so I reckon I should be OK.
