Anyone have any tip/tricks on installing these with the stock diffs?

I have 2 coming from SMF and I am not 100% sure I have everything I need to get these things on the truck.

on a side note. i pulled my from diff out of the stock bulkhead last night and noticed some small shavings. is that normal wear and tear? If its not then what can I do to fix the problem?

I love these bulkheads .. I have not had a problem w/ them at all .. Just be sure to shim the diffs like normal, And loctite all screws.. Make sure the diffs your putting in the bulks are in great shape as well.

I got everything put back together tonight but after putting the frontend on all 4 wheels wont turn together.

I am thinking I layed my diff in backwards but I am not real sure :duh: . Does that sound likely?

Also back on topic about the bulkheads.

The plastic piece the connects the steering post to the steering crank doesnt clear the bulkhead and doesnt completely move from one side to the other.

Is that due to something I did wrong here or did I get a bad bulkhead?

the 4 wheels wont turn together unless you are turning opposite wheels i do believe. as far as the steering drag link goes, I'm not 100% sure, but ive heard about having to shave it a bit to get it to work right.

I think you're right but it wont even roll across the floor.

I considered shaving it a little but it seems like it would weaken the part and make it more likely to break.

I just saw that FLM makes a steering link. It looks like it may be thinner than the stock one but its hard to tell in the picture.

That is the one thing I hate about the alloy bulks, very easy to put the diff in backwards, look at the slot on the bottom of the skidplate (made for clearance for the ring gear) .. your diffs need to go opposite directions

Np flm's steering link is great .. you need it w/ the alloy bulks or the stock drag link wont work.. It will rub against the bulk .. But in the meen tine go ahead and shave like 1/8 of an inch off the stocker it will hold (4 awhile)
