Ok i finally fixed my truck after a couple of months of not running it i go out today to start it and as soon as it starts it starts reving really high. i didnt do anything to the engine at all.

all i did was:
1.replace my cover plate----->https://www.hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2586
2.replace my engine plate
3. replace my engine mount

let me know if this is normal or if its not then what should i do???

yea i thinks its my linkage...because i didnt touch any of the screws on the carb so its tuned fine and i charged all my batteries before i went out. is there a pic of what the linkage is suposed to look like???

thx

nvm guys when i put it all back together i ended up putting the linkage on the rong way. now its fine. thx for all your ideas.

Have you done a pinch test to check the low speed needle?
"The Pinch test":
When the engine is running at idol, pinch off the fuel supply at the fuel line.
If the rpm's get higher for a few seconds, your Ok, but if they don't, that means that your already too lean.

If thats the case, open the lsn a 1/2 turn and do the the test again. If you want to see if its the linkage, push the carb linkage close all the way.
If the idol drops to normal and then rizes when you release the pressure, see if you can set your throttle trim down some.
If you can't, then go ahead ann lengthen the linkage arm that attatches to the carb slide ball.

There is the posibillity the the carb is gummed up from the two months of no use.
Hit it with nitro cleanner in the fuel inlet to break up any gummage that can restrict the flow, causing a lean condition.

Sounds very lean. I was running fine for about 20 minutes today then it started reving high then going by its self my batteries are new i didnt know what it could have been since it ran for awhile before this happened. any clues???

yea it was lean but its tuned good now as for yours i think you might have crystle problems, interference or somthin else. lots of things can make your truck have a mind of its own I'm sure some one else will have more ideas for you tho.
