Eating 39t second gear every run

I have three savages (That I run) and all three of them eat the two speed 39t gear within usually less than a tank. Even just running on flat ground with no jumps or even rough terrain.
I have checked and made sure everything is perfectly clean every time I put them together, no screws are stripped, and the top half of the gearbox case sits nice and flush on the bottom half. All bearings are good or brand newish. The complete lack of aftermarket metal gears to replace it makes me think this is not a common issue. I am running robinson racing spur and bell on all three. Is it possible that is the cause? I haven't heard of that being a problem but I'm out of ideas

Check E Bay. also GPM does offer a set of aluminum gears that may last awhile (although I would prefer steel if available)..

Mine also went through about three plastic spur gears in no time. I then upgraded to a full steel spur gear and hardened clutch bell, and now my problem is solved.

@ Okkie, you haven't solved the problem, you've just found a way to live with it.
your problem is a clutch bell that is too hot, when you brake and idle, some of the teeth get too hot and the plastic softens....
in the past, when there was no metal spur gear, we solved this with a larger truckzilla clutch. But then 17/47 was the fastest ratio, so the clutch bell was modified with a thread to be able to run 18/47 and 19/47. I still go with plasic with a Novarossi 528 XRP

I tend to disagree. The problem I had wasn’t with my clutch bell eating the plastic gear; it was with the slipper clutch behind the spur gear that got hot and softened the material around the spur gear. This caused the spring to not press down on the slipper clutch properly, which increased the amount of slip, and obviously the heat. That then caused the slipper action to slip even more.

I’ve also eaten through plastic spurs, but that was mostly when I was bashing around on the beach, so I’m thinking that was just extra wear. The plastic spur gear isn’t the greatest design. I know they are designed to fail and protect the rest of the drivetrain, but since I’ve switched to a steel spur gear, I just don’t have any of those problems anymore.
