Being that I just got my Savage I didn't have a work stand available to set it up on while wrenching away at it. The store that I got it from was out of them, and I haven't seen anything realy appealing. Although, I like the look of the PVC ones that I have seen around here.
Anyway, I came up with a bright idea to use an old 6x9 speaker enclosure that I had laying around with a blown out speaker. I removed the speaker, took out the small hook-up leads on the back, flipped it upside down, and presto for the little work of removing fours speaker screws I had a nice stand, that is softly lined, and fits the Savage frame easily.
Try it out if you have an old one laying around, it worked great for me!
