DX3S Battery Options

I have a Spektrum DX3S and I want to know if its possible to put a hump pack in it, or to get really good rechargable batteries for it. I have talked to a couple people that believe it can be done, then others that say you can't.. DX3S users please chime in.

vis you gotta get Spektrum on the horn, doesnt make sense that they would go backwards in time & make a $300+ Tx incapable of taking a pack.

even my son's AM Traxxas Tx you can remove the battery tray & plug in a pack.

maybe you should dump the Speky DX3S & upgrade to a Traxxas AM?

OR.. I could just get rid of the savvy all together and just get a traxxas because Savages are FAR too advanced for me
