alright guys i was bashing my savage 3 speed and all of a sudden i don't have 4 wheel drive anymore. the front wheels are attached to the tranny but the rear wheels are dead as a bucket of shrimp. i checked all the drive shafts and their screws and theyre all there.

I'm not sure what the problem is.

Any help guys i would really appreciate it.

either blown diff or your missing the grub screws. but you said you still have all the screws so check your rear diff.

you hear any noise when it happen? like crunching sound? and when you turn the rear tires and hold the front tires is there any kind of restrain or is it just feel free? I'm guessing almost certain its your pinion gear in the rear end if your grub screws are still there...

open it up and see what u find. you could be guessing for days if you don't lol.

baddasz savage is right tear it open see what it is ...cough cough pinion gear...... lol cause you can guess all day but tear it apart and youll know instantly....but I'm putting my money on the pinioon gear sheerd off all the teeth..rounded off actually since theres no noise.....have fun bash on...

come on people....post a picture or something.. i really don't know what a pinion gear is.

s the gear that is inside the bulk head runs off the drive lines...that link is the part....

Oh I see. I checked it, it's fine it's not stripped or anything still looks brand new . I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Check the bearings either side of the diff, behind the outdrive cups, if the bearings let go you can totally lose the meshing between the pinion and ring gears altogether without neccesarily stripping the gears, its happened to me.

This one strippied the gear but it has happened to me without the gears stripping.

ok this will be my last guess with out a vid or something to show what your truck does exactly... its got to be a grub screw missing or sheerd off ... there is two.... one up next to the transmision and one down by the rear end ..you said they are in still... take um out see if it sheerd one off and left the head in so it looks like its good ...but rem if they are good ... put lock tite back on um before you put them back in....good luck hope you get it fixed...

yep that happened to me too, the screw in the brake hub, the smallest one of the four centre grub screws had sheared its pin off and left the head of the screw so all looked good there.
