Can i use the same oil INSIDE THE DIFF for inside the diff housing?? I'm currently using 10k silicon... If so how much oil do i need to fill it up until for both inside the diff and the diff housing... Thanks in advance
You don't want to fill the Bulkhead (Diff housing) you just want to fill the differential cups in most cases aluminum. You only want to use a little grease on the ring and pinion gears.
Wheel bearing grease works good, and so does the white lithium greas that comes in a tube (not the spray can). I tried 100000 wt oil for the outside of the diff. Although it was thick and sticky, and it didn't work very well due to the heat outside and it eventually leaked out.
Filling the complete bulkhead or case around the diff with say 100K fluid will also make the truck roll much stiffer making the motor run hotter and loosing some performance, although it would lubricate the gears better making them last loner.
All I did was coat the outside of the diffs and didn't fill up the bulkhead. Yeah do not fill the bulkhead up because the oil will just leak out between the diff bearings and the pinion
