Diff housing

I hope somebody can help me here,i finally pulled my diffs apart,what i noticed is that there is a lot of play where the axle cup goes into the aluminum housing is there supposed to be a lot of movement,or very little,does this mean new diff cups are in order.

You need to shim them.
