Since I've been running an O.S. 30, the top screw that holds the brake pads on keeps loosing up. I've lost two screws now. Does anyone have a surefire way to repair this. I'm really tired of not having any brakes, and of playing with the brakes all the time. By the way I have HPI's dual disk brakes on my. Peace.:dunno:
 
How is the OS 30 going? I have been looking at the sts 30 as my next engine but i have been hearing that it takes a bit of work to keep it going. I have discovered that the os 30 isn't too much more expensive but I haven't heard much about it.

Like a dream, It feels like I have twice the power. (than stock) When you floor it, it takes off sideways. Excellent compression. Starts easy runs smooth. It has a thermal shut off built into the carb, so no overheating. Easy on glow plugs, I've run 7/8ths of a gallon on the original glow plug. I noticed because of the size of the carb the throttle tree was preventing the the throttle from opening completely. I've fixed it, can't wait to see what it can do fully opened. JUst an example of how much power this engine has. I put HPI's Goliath tires 178x97mm on Blast wheels. There huge, with a 49t spur and a 18t clutchbell. It still pulls massive wheelies.

I've never had a STS 30, but I can say that I have no complaints about the OS30VG. More power than you'll ever need.

Thanks to all for the help, I'll try some of those methods mentioned. Next Question. What can I use as a brake piston, I lost my spare, and I really do not feel like buying a new brake kit just for the piston. Peace.

Cool, GT, Just what I want to here, bud. I just got an OS 30vg also. Any reccommendations on how to treat it durring the break-in?

Dude, I'm No expert. I just like to wrench. for brake in, remember to push the carb in all the way, mine was already pushed as far down as possile. Tighten it up, I dosed it with after run, a superstition. Let it sit. I adjusted the horn on the throttle so it wouldn't bind up. (engine & carb are slightly larger) I recommend using a larger clutch bell, cause you will be pulling wheelies after half a tank. Besides that I basicly followed procedure. Congrates on the new mill. I think you'll love it, especially if your upgarding from stock. I wished we all lived next door, that would be a hoot. Peace

You got that right GT. It would be so killer to have a tight group in the hood to Bash and Race with. Peace to you also, bro.
 
Well.. Getting a JP-1 pipe is what I wanted, but looking at the $89+tax cured me of that notion...lol.

I settled for an RDLogics polished, Off-road-1/8th, tuned pipe. The HPI Polished pipe is also a good stand by pipe and does work good from what I've heard.

The OS has a sound of its own. It would be really cool to find the pipe that has the proformance with the throat.
I heard a pipe on/OS at a LHS one day while it was being tune in an MGT.

The LHS guy rev'd it in a plaza coridoor walkway. It made my hair stand up! WWOOoo WTF!!!. Honey!!!... Grab the screaming kids!...lol

Cool,I'm using my stock pipe. It does the job, eventually I'd like a rear exhaust like a tsais or rdlogics. let me know how that pipe works DBW. Thanks.
 
So far, working great. GT.
Only completed 5 tanks w/ the OS 30vg, but all things considered, no issues.
The OS reminds me of the old Yamaha YZ 80's.
