Well you all took off to the World Finals and left me home with no one to shoot the poop with. I decided to make a mount the hard way seeing as I have assess to a Bridgeport but thats just cheating ... I only used a drill and a dremel for the most part. I did take out the Roto Zip to make a few cuts faster than the dremel can. This can be done by any one who can use a set of calipers and lay out a straight pattern !

My intent was to make the mount true to NewEras design and incorporate in a wing mount solution for a Revo wing as well as add some strength to the mount.

I started by finding the over all hight I needed for the wings mount to clear the shock tower. Then how much of a bump out I needed to mount to the bottom of the wing off the tower. I found a 1x1 inch piece of angle would be perfect for this. I then went and picked up my aluminum at the hardware store. I had intent on using 2.00 thick stock but they only had it in 1.275 so I grabbed it, and got a extra strip that I need to make a servo mount on my basher as well. The new piece is 2.555 thick and NewEras is 2.035.

I have a buddy who works there and I also scored a full set of stainless hardware for the racer in all for 14.00 dollars so I don't even know the full price of the aluminum but I'd say it was well under 10 dollars but IDK.

I got to work I laid out the bolt pattern and drilled it in the angle stock then did the same in the flat stock. I bolted them together and made all my cuts and sanded down the edges. It is still in its rough stage but I was not going to take the time to make it pretty till I know it will hold up to every thing the truck can throw at it.

I will test the heck out of this piece and if it works well I will take and start cross drilling it to remove unneeded weight. When I find the point it fails at its done. At that point I will make one on the Bridgeport to the pre-fail specks and be done. :bluehack: Thanks for looking!

Works sweet

Thanks for all the kind words guys! Took it to the track today....A+++ So time to drill a bit and polish it up.

Its lived thru hell cam. Cart wheels, unintentional half back flips. If it were going to bend or break I would have seen it by now. Ive yet to pull it off and finish it up. But I will soon and post the bling when its done.

How did I miss this thread? :duh:

Really awesome looking!! I really like the make it yourself course of action for upgrades. Cheaper and more fulfilling IMHO.

Any chance when you pull it off to polish it up you'll make a template that could be uploaded so a few of us could try it aswell?

its always cool to see people custom making the parts they need and yours looks awsome and from your review of it sounds like its holding up well so hats off to ya!!!:resp:

Got all the aluminum I need to make one yesterday. Think I'm gonna steal your idea and use a LST wing mount. I got one from a Hellfire for something else that turned out useless. Thanks for doing all the thinking already bud!

when do these go into production? :resp:

Working on it... first run of one done!!!

Thanks Nitro!

Witch Series is the bridgeport you have access to 1 or 2?
To be honest I haven't a clue! But they are all older I use 4 different ones. One is updated with digital readouts. The one I use most it at a buddy's house and he scored it for 200 bucks off the back of the truck deal... We just had to change the head. We also wired a motor in line for 3rd phase... as his houses service does not have 3 phase power. But lol you don't need it!:yellowhack:

Update...

Still going strong!!! I have tossed the LST's for big bore's and cut off the tabs for them retaining the wing mount. Added just a piece of flat stock as a clamp and moved it down the tower a bit but no bends tweaks or failures to report!

here it is now:

Very nice jjob Bank... Very usefull, thanks for sharing..Maybe will have to try it out someday...

that wing and mount is still in use today. Never failed bent of snapped off. I have to say a traxass part is good now ... Revo wing stay FTW

Why does only one of your shocks have that purple shock cap? haha

Nice truck though... when I look at it I feel like this... :mega:

Sorry about using the smilies so much... I'm sure I'll get over them soon enough.

some things are obvious from bank's picture.

1. real men smoke reds.
2. purple is acceptable in small doses.
3. tylenol sucks
4. leftover parts are best left where they lay
5. teminator looking tvps are so 2008
6. revo parts used on a savage are purely there for destruction purposes

lol i had a heart hic-up that week. Them aspirin can save your life ...

But yea that revo wing is the best dumb idea I have had yet
