my buddy has a mammoth, he loves it but it's no savage i know; anyways he has had some radio problems lately.....it works fine untill the truck is pointed toward him and coming back....then the truck stops the fail safe engages and it just sits there, he has tried the following to fix the problem:
changed the reciever
changed the servos
upgraded the battery
replaced the switch(on/off)
checked all the wiring
tried new actual radio

then i tried his crystals in my truck....my truck's electronics works fine by the way, and it also did the same to my fail safe and acted just like his.....all we did was put his crystals in my trucks receiver.....so am i to believe he needs new crystals? weird, i've never had this problem before, neither has he.

any ideas?

Just try replacing the crystals then...I've never heard of savages having related crystals issues, generally it was pinched wires in the receiver or something along battery issues. At least the crystals don't cost much though.

How did they break? What I do is strap some heavy rubber-bands around them so they can come out or wiggle loose

could something like this be caused by metal to metal contact in the truck?
Definitely. AM systems are VERY susceptible to interference and metal to metal contact causes a lot. You will notice you servos twitch when you connect the glow igniter.
Since it happened with two different trucks and different radios I'm thinking there is something causing interference on that frequency.
Does that problem happen if you take the truck to a different location? Did you try your crystals in his truck/radio and see if it worked?

i have never head of a savage having any thing like that my guess is just as good as yours is

keep us posted
