Crystal swap

Tried searching for this answer but only had two hits from years ago! :cussing:

Where I run my truck, I frequently run into the same person and she is running the same frequency as I am. She's just a kid so I tend to wait until she's done and not running so I can fire mine up and have some fun.

So I'm about to buy a couple sets of new crystals to avoid having to wait my turn to run my truck. My question is do I have to stick with the same am crystals that came with it? Is there any benefit to changing to FM? Can I even change to FM? :Mr.confused:I understand the benefit of switching to the 2.4G set up but right now, that's out of my price range.

One of the threads that I found searching had a variety pack of crystals cheap but the link/site doesn't exist anymore. Anyone know of anything similiar?

if it is AM you must stay with AM crystals but you may want to check ebay for a traxxas 2.4 radio they seem to be going cheap

what xtal set do you have now? I can look around and see what I have kicking around here. I don't use the AM tx's but have a few

I'm running the standard 27.145 but just found a 4 freq set on Ebay and I bid on it. They seem cheap enough but I was curious if changing to something else would have been some kind of upgrade.

I am going to look for the new radio though. Thanks, you guys :jamout:

Save up and get a 2.4Ghz transmitter. I have the Futaba 3PM and love it! I got it for $160 with a receiver. Best upgrade I have done so far.
