Clutch questions

I am planning on buying a savage that the clutch needs to be cleaned or replaced.

He said he greased the transmission and got in the clutch. Is the clutch savable, or does it need to be replaced? How hard is it to clean or replace the clutch?

Personally I would take the Trans apart and carb clean the gears and get the grease out of the Trans. They are suppose to be dry for the most part. If the shoes are Nylon I would suggest replacing with some decent Aluminum Shoes. Integy sells some for like $9.00 that seem to be decent.

savage slip

ok my savage 25 slips like crazy it will go 3mph at full throttle.i replaced the clutch/slipper clutch and the clutch bell.i split the transmission and found grease on the gears that dummy me put their when i added reverse.i replaced the transmission still slips.this all started after i cracked both diffs in a rollover i replaced the bulkheads. is it possible i put the ring gear in backwards one gear goes to the left one goes to the right.please anyone who can help please help I'm going nuts takeing this apart replaceing this and that and it still slips.it ran fine before i broke the bulkheads
