I just ordered 2 sets of Nova clutch shoes, mugen springs and nuts. I am wondering if I need anything else.

Do I need to upgrade my clutch bell on either truck? I have stock CB's in both trucks, one is the X F4.6 RTR, the other is the X SS K4.6.

the SS came with a CB that is open or has vents on the end, the one with the rtr is solid. are they ok? or should I get something else, my spur gear's are stock too. the RTR has 17/47 (Plastic spur) and the SS 17/47 (metal spur)

Will I notice any difference running these shoes, or are they the same performance, just last longer?

thanks

The nova shoes come with two sizes of weights to adjust the shift point. If yuor wanting a harder engagement you don't have to put them in. if you do start at the inside holes ( theres three sets) I'm running the sts30 15/47 with no wieghts on a 1.0 set of springs. going down in teeth on the c/b will give you more low end and the higher no. of teeth on the spur will do the same. for top end youll want higher no. c/b lower no. spur gear. play aruond with your gearing and find what suits your driving. good luck! hope this helps.

Thanks,

I was planing on using no weights, I saw where SJ tested differentweight postions.

I like the gearing I have now, So will the CB's I have now work with the shoes, I thought I had read somewhere that the CB's had to be upgraded to use something, just cant remember what it was? I am still looking for where I read that, if I find it ill post it.

Thanks SJ, you must have posted while I was typing the post after yours.

I found what I was thinking about, it was about the CB having to be upgraded when you change to the metal spur gear.

I guess I will do that when and if the plastic one goes bad, I haent had any problems with the plastic one so I don't really see any reason to upgrade to metal.
I recently saw a post where you guys posted the CB spur gear combos your running, I will try to find that, I may try some different combo's in the future.

Wister between you and me ... stick w/ plastic spur buddy ....

shhhhhh, don't let out our secret

I will trust you on that one?? but I am curious, theycall the metaal one an upgrade, is it because if something goes wrong the spur will break and not the tranny? or the weight? don't worry, I don't kiss and tell 🙂
