Hi guys,

The Savage is a new toy for me and so far I'm really impressed with it, it started off as a Savage 21 but I've upgraded the diff, clutch bell and spur gear to accommodate a force .36.

The engine is great but the spur and clutch bell done line up right, the spur gear over hangs the inner edge so doesn't have total contact.

I've shimmed the clutch bell to stop the small amount of movement there but it's still not right.

So I'm not a little stuck and not sure on thr best course of action. Are there hardened clutch bells that have the cog go all the back to its casing? If so that would work!

Thanks

Lance

There are a few things possible here. What clutch are you using and what flywheel some clutches and/or flywheels are wider and will cause this issue. Nova used to make a motor mount that allowed the motor to be moved forward and back this is what I use.

If you are running the HPI clutch and flywheel than it is likely that you did not tighten the flywheel back far enough.

Some aftermarket spur gears can also cause this issue. I always had trouble with the GH changeable spur gear as it caused this problem. I recomend the hardened HPI steel spur gears.

Thank you for your reply 🙂

I'm using an hpi 47t steel spur and hpi hardened steel 17t clutch bell.

That motor mount sounds perfect for resolving this issue! I'll have a look around the net for one.

The flywheel is definately attached correctly. I think I may look at purchasing a new flywheel clutch combo anyway as the one I have is on the old side now.

Do you know anyone that's put a force .36 into a savage 21 before and did they run into any issues like this?

Thanks

I do not know anyone running the motor personally. I think the motor mount is the way to go. Love mine. Used to have two but sold one with my picco and regret it.

If we can get one of those nova mounts over to Alza racing, he said he would look at and probably start building them. Those are the only mounts I like using

Does Nova not make them anymore?

They were made of 7075 alum. Can he make them in that?

I only have one now and need it for running. Does anyone have one that they are not currently using?

Been out of business maybe a couple yrs. Alza racing said for me to send one. I have 2 or 3. I need to take one out and mail it.
