Well I have been driving my savage more lately getting the tranny to shift (TRYING TO) and when I hit the brakes I hear clicking noises coming from the front.

I notice that the front tires seem to get more power than the rear but I am not %100 positive.

I quess all my bragging that I am still running stock diffs is catching up to me! lol.

Just wondering if I should be conserned.

:bigsmilie:

Well good thing is I have a 4 gear conversion......doesn't have the big gear that I know of.

Oh well just another thing I need to add to my list.........so its now up to

1: tranny not shifting yet (or its a really low gearing 14/49)
2: front diff
3: front bearing bad on S-25
4: steering servo

My truck had the clicking in front..problem 2 teeth missing form pinoin gear. My front tires were getting most of the power...problem my rear diff spiders and sun gears were almost completely gone. When I opened the diff the fluid looked like metal silver model paint. Solution replace diffs with better ones, and shim them this time.

i was getting the same noise from my 25 and know i have a blown diff another thing to do too

I don't abuse them at all at least I don't think I do.

It wouldn't keep my tranny from shifting would it?

Well it just doesn't have ANY speed.

Is their that much of a difference between 14/49 and 15/49?

Thanks

Ok I took the diff out today (A LOT MORE PARTS TO REMOVE THAN I THOUGHT!)

The bevel gear looks like it is in really good shape but the pinion gear is missing 4 teeth......

It will be a miracle if I get this thing back together, lol jk.

Then I find out that my S-25 has a bad front bearing.......so the STS is going back in with a pullstart.

actually shaun they will go on yours but, 25 will have to buy some additional parts to finish the conversion. I think it is well worth it, I'm testing out a set now. I have put about 1 1/2 gallons through these diffs.

What all will I need?

I am only doing the front for now.

I will work on the rear later, I think the rear is ok but I will find out next time I drive it.

Thanks bud!

Ya I know how they are and disassembling the truck is a pain and a BUNCH of screws and parts to remember where they went. And shipping prices! lol.

I just ran mine, still nice and tight.

Ill pull my rear and give it a inspection to see how it looks so far. I feel for the side to side movement.

If the front wheels are getting more power that means that the rear is bad also right?

Correct me if I am wrong.

If they are the same amount of drive time, Its more likely than not that the rear will look the same as the fronts did when you took them apart.

The front tires was getting more power than the rear and when I would hit the brakes they were clicking yet they have been doing that the past 2 gallons but it has just gotten really bad and noticeable.

I will do the front for now and rebuild the rear at another time.

I have gotten use to like one diff a week. Definitely the more power the more diffs. Mine is always the pinion but I always replace both ring gear and pinion. Also, always make sure the slipper is adjusted properly. If the slipper is to tight you will go through diffs much quicker.

Sweet, I got my diff and parts to covert over in today.

The diff is so smooth.......compared to my old diff.

Anyways I hope to install them tomorrow, I would do it today but I have a 9 weeks test tomorrow that I MUST GET ABOVE AN 80 ON!

LIFTER, my slipper clutch is always cranked tight.

Are you shimming your diffs?

I diff a week? do you go through at least 10 gallons of fuel? lol JJ
