Just about to rebuild my tranny with light weight gears and high speed idler... I know i don't need to put any lube in there but i thought it couldnt hurt to put a bit of the HPI heavy duty grease they supply free??? Is tha a good idea? or should i just corrosion X the gears and put them in there???

What do you use?

THANKS

Josh

The tranny is designed to be run dry but if you use a very light coat of grease it may not affect it much. I personally use a little wd-40 just to clean the inside out and give it a little lubrication.

The tranny's are designed to run dry, that way any of the worn material comes off as dust. Adding any sort of "sticky" lube will just hold contaminants in the gears and cause the pre-mature wear or failure.

hmmm i may not bother with the grease.. but this corrosion x stuff is great for all metals so will give it a go...
Thanks for the advice...

What do people think of the gorilla snawt grease... ive only heard great things about it......
