If you haven't seen already, parts have been donated from HPISF members through ThePopeNJ for this build thank you HPISF 🙂

Made my motor mount, Its very sturdy but I need to brace the motor plate length wise as it flexes...

Mounted my wing on the wing mount, ready for everything else. I get the things tommorow!

SOOO. finally

ARound 11 alex dropped off the parts for my truck. come to find out he left the transmission home, so no motor mount or anything.

Then sifting through the parts, i found that it didn't have any suspension hinge pins... So Try and find substitutes, wait and get them or make my own.. So i went down to the local hardware store and picked up 5/32 hardened steel rod. and made ALL my hinges with it.

I went through and installed the front and rear assemblies with the hex head hardware i got, installed skids and bumpers, made outer hinge pins, installed shocks, and started to put together my radio box.

I still need bearings for the steering bellcrank assembly, the upright posts for the belcrank and 2 toe links for the rear suspension.

Another Big up date. scavenging around the shop today i was trying to figure out a way get the steering installed.. My main problem was finding bearings to fit in the steering assembly. The answer came in the form of bearings from an old transmission out of an electric duratrax evader... Next came the steering posts. Found a great match with Center differential mounting posts from an ofna Hyper 7 which i had lying in the junk box.. One end was drilled for m3, and one end was larger with an m4 opening. Hacked off the large end and it made perfect steering posts, they bolted into the stock location and work great.

you should not mount donated parts on the wall next to a tekin may tick off the members that donated....

Do not blame BLB16 he did not ask for anything. I did this to do a nice thing for a kid that I felt deserved it. I did my best to make the situation clear to all who donated. ANYONE who feels that they were misslead PLEASE PM me and I will do my best to make it right by you.

Sweet I wish this happend to me haha there have been months I haven't run just cause I can't afford it. But glad to see that some kids are lucky you will love the truck I can guarantee that.

Alot of donated items there... looks good.. appreciation thread in order? Who donated the lipos?

The power system ismy own. no electronics were donated (aside from a steering servo) Receiver, Mamba monster and Castle 2200kv motor are my personal units.

I don't think I mislead anyone? The tvp's, suspension, body mounts, shock towers, shocks, etc were donated I just happen to be the recipient.

I'd like to do a donation thread for my cousin but I feel like most people would think that since I'm an adult and have RC's myself that I could afford to buy the stuff myself. Normally I would help him out but I haven't worked in over a year LOL. Maybe after I get tires for my 1:1 I'll put something together. WJC hooked me up with a full set of shocks, some upper arms, and a stainless brake set. I was gonna use them as spares for myself but maybe I can get some more stuff and start throwing together a truck.

If you really wanted a savage why wouldnt you just sell a truck? You have a losi 8ight there why not sell that?

Why does everything have to be negative? With due respect learn the whole story before you make comments.

I met alex (thepopenj) at the track, his first time racing, he ended up needing a part for his savage, but didn't know anyone. So i went around to all the people i could, running around trying to find parts to get him up and running. eventually i found parts and he ended up doing well. Exchanged info and ended up bashing a few times, I liked how the truck ran so I told him if you could keep an eye out for a cheap roller, a week or so later he calls and tells me that he is gathering parts from this forum and its members to build me a truck.. Its not like I told, or forced anyone to build me a truck. It was out of his kindness that I got the truck. the 8ight is my race vehicle but i haven't had any cash to get out to the track (no job). I'm keeping it.

Update. Got my transmission and rear tie rods today (thanks pope)

Going to go through it and put the flux gears in it, flux slipper I hope I have center driveshaft outputs?

then on to making my motor mounts

but i seen your motor mount pic in the first post. is this not going to be used?

was hoping to see how it worked out.

It will be... but in a different way.

I'm Basically remaking the large motor plate and braces as one peice, from 1/4in aluminum...

Winter sucks.. snapped a drill bit, Got that out, tried to thread a screw in, snapped the head off, drilled it out, then broke my m3 tap in the hole... cant get it out, so i ground it flush..

But. I mounted the transmission. roll bar, center driveshafts, rear toe links.

Had to improvise as I had no transmission output cups. Used 1mmthick aluminum sheet metal. Made a sleve for the transmission output shaft to fit the differential pinion drive cups..

It can sit on its 4 wheels by itself now!

Thanks!

Finally ran the truck today..

Get to the bash spot in the muck and mud.... set trim's

and then WIDE OPEN THROTTLE, over this huge berm, went awesome!

flies like a bird

But then my custom center drive units failed.

Does anyone have center transmission output cups?
