I was adjusting my 2 speed on my new Xss for shifting points and apparently I backed out that set screw too much because I found that the tranny still wasn't shifting.

I noticed something was wrong when the truck would just rev, not going forward.

I opened up the tranny and a small silver steel ball fell out, a somewhat mangled spring followed and I noticed the set screw was lodged in the transmission gear tooth.

Pulled out the screw and part of the gear tooth broke off in the middle.

Questions:
1. Where does that small ball go?

2. Do you guys recommend using that damaged tranny gear? New one on order as well as a 3 speed.

3. Where does the spring go?

I checked the tranny's exploded view in the manual but it does not answer my questions 2 & 3.

Thanks guys.

the small ball and the spring control the shift points in the clutch

order is this

ball
spring
set screw

that's how it is installed in the clutch assembly

ok thanks.

I put the broken gear back in last night and it was meshing alright. Don't know how long it would last though.

Anyways I ordered a replacement transmission gear and a 3 speed tranny.
