I have searched all over trying to find alternate bodies for the XL. I finally found a stadium truck body that seems to fit great. I attached some pics unpainted to show how it fits. I'll post finished pics after painting. I painted the rims for a "red beadlock" look.

Oh, the body is #BS804-002C by Redcat

It's 12" wide x 22" long. Fits perfect between the front & back bumpers. Finished painting today: I took one shot next to the original XL body for scale

If anyone wants to do this, I mounted it on the factory body mounts. I only had to partially file the flanges on the front mount points for a better fit. The body was trimmed excessively but that's how they do stadium trucks, right?

I did the cut out above the engine with a hot knife and step-drill-bits. (Step drill bits are best for these bodies)

I think it would work on all the XL's, just different trimming behind the cab.

Will the rear of the body take a hit as it overhangs the bumper?

Possibly, but then again, unless the truck is right-side-up, the body takes a hit.

You either drive'em or put'em on the shelf to look pretty

Get a t-bone rear skid/wheelie bar, then add a bit of something behind it to make it stickout a bit more. I have that on both my savage trucks and it goes the entire width of the body, well, most of the body on yours. It should help avoid it getting snagged during a wheelie.

I'm just a basher too, but I hate when a brand new body gets destroyed 30 seconds into it's maiden run. :)

Hpi Blitz body works great to just had to flip the mounting points on the chassis and the holes line up great ... picture are on a stock savage but have now gone XL and the body still fits great.. just need to trim out the rear arches a little.

Plum, That body is very similar to the redcat one I used. What is the length / width?

Old TA SC8 and HPI Apache bodies work great also.

What colour is this I love it...

The Body is approx 53cm x 29 cm at the wheel arches.. took some XL pictures last night will upload them tomorrow ... and will find out the paint colour .. On a standard chassis the nitro engine lines up perfect to the holes cut out . Now XL i use a glow plug extension or remote on the side of the chassis.

That's about the same size as the Redcat body (55.88cm x 30.48cm). I can attach the glow starter and fuel through the cut out I made. Roto start gear is easy to see through here also. It's easy to quickly re-start
