If you want electric start, your pretty much stuck with a roto of some sort on the savage. Otherwise, it's pull-start. The flywheel isn't exposed for a bump start.
The best receiver pack type would probably be a 2S LiPo with a BEC that drops the volts down to 6V, unless you have electronics that can handle 7V+. Short of that, the cheap intelect 1600mah 2/3A hump packs work fine for me. If you go with LiPo, you will need a LiPo charger. If not, there's no need to go nuts with a NiMH charger as you don't want to really charge a receiver pack at more than 1A anyway. Either way you go, it's not a "money is no object" kind of thing because the packs are small, so they don't cost much and a charger that can charge either battery type at 1A or 1C also doesn't cost much.

Appears they include a few LiPo packs as well. I don't know what LiPo will fit, but pretty much any 2/3A NiMH "hump" pack will fit in a savage receiver box.
This BEC will have plenty of current to drive two servos, but it requires the
$20 castle link to adjust the output voltage:

Remember though, a bec is only needed if your wanting to use a LiPo pack.
Or, you can go with a cheaper generic BEC that has a voltage pin on it. I use a
cheap one in my stampede because the castle esc only puts out 5v. Something like that won't handle dual high power digital servos at full capacity.
