Is anyone having issues trying to keep metal gears in there HiTec 5645 or 645 as they use the same gears. I went threw 2 of these servos in less than 2 weeks. The first was never used other than turning the wheels on my table and the second has 6 tanks threw it ans started to strip at about 3 tanks but kept on driving.

The first one was covered under warrenty by LHS, now I need to see if they will do the second. These were made around 06/07 and 07/07 so maybe they had a bad batch of gears.

Just checking to see if anyone else is having issues either.

I was unaware of the 2 year warrenty but my LHS emailed them about the last and they just wanted to see it so they wanted him to send it to them.

Hi,

I have the 645's, I had them on my steering for about 10 months now and just recently put them on my throttle/brakes. I haven't had any problems with them at all.

One of my trucks is heavy, sitting still they wouldnt move at all on the steering and still didnt mess the gears up, that I know of anyway, never opened them up.

Maybe a bad batch like you said???

I got a 5645MG for Steering and the 645MG for throttle. Its been around a month and half since I placed these on my truck and I havnt had any issues with the gears as of yet.
The only problem I had was when the 5645 on my steering , the throw was set to high and I rounded out the plastic stops inside the case, so I ordered a new case for it. But as much for the gearing, still going strong :Xfingers:

Yeah i was at 120, after horn was centered. I turned the wheels to the right if i remember correctly and the servo started making the always moving noise. After messing around with the settings, i stripped down the servo and thats when I found the stripped out stops.

I have it at 100 now and no problems, havnt ventured back to 120 yet. It takes to long via snail mail to receive another case.
I don't believe it was any set up problems, because I didnt experience any problems until after I started using my new Tx and goofing off with the settings. :dunno:

But its been a month now since the new case and everything is running fine. I'm attempted to try 120 again. But ill wait to around payday lol..

Hey me and some of the guys all bought 645s at the same time and everyone of them messed up the same gear almost at the same time :dunno:

Wow, has to be a bad batch. Wonder if Hitec knows of it, and released any info. If not, thats bad business on their part if they know they got a problem and ignore it.

Is there any kind of lo or batch number on them? It would be interesting to know if they came from the same lot.

Lifter when did you guys get yours< was it about the same time Jason got his?

John

I am interested in this also. i just bought my 5645 a couple of days ago. I do not have a tank through it yet so I can't really comment on the gears, but would like to know if I have one from a bad lot. Thanks

I would check your servo saver is not tightened too much. If you tighten the saver more then the manual says the spring will bind before the saver moves full range. Other then that it does sound like a bad batch of gears or possibly cases (excessive slop in gear meshes).

hi guys,
I have a 645 on one of my trucks and have not had any problems.
You guys have a great site ( this is my first post).

Welcome Mike

I run 645's on both of my savage's .. NO PROBLEMS !!!!
2 gallons on one of them; used for stearing

Welcome abord Mike.

My servo saver is actually pretty loose compaired to where I like them. If I crank the wheels back and forth by hand quickely the servo saver takes the brunt of the force.

i have the 645mg for my throttle and brake and the 5645mg for my steering and have had no problems as of yet. i'm very happy with the upgraded parts.

Well, i'm hopefully going to throw some gears in it this weekend and hoping that I had to bad servos like said they were made on like 06/07 and the other was 07/07 so they could be a bad batch lets hope so. Otherwise i'll be going Futaba from now on, i'll pay the extra money.
