Hi,

Anyone with a radio that has the antilock braking in it ever tried it? I have a new radio on the way and was reading the manual, just wondering if anyones tried it what do you think Does it actually work, sounds like pumping the brakes more than real ABS to me.. (or do I have this all wrong and a add on ABS system is needed to use this feature, the manual doesn't say.)

I like being able to skid with he brakes but every once in a while it looks like it wants to flip over front end first when I hit the brakes hard, I haven't actually flipped it yet but it's come close.

Thanks,

John

never heard about antilock brake but i know if i hit the brakes to hard the truck flips and slides on it lid so they would be nice

i've heard of the controllers with the anti-lock brakes option and always wondered myself if it actually works just like it does on a full size car!! hopefully u can post what u figure out once u get the radio!!!

The futaba 3pm has the option for antilock brakes. What is does is it pulses the signal to the servo. If you brakes are really strong you will still flip on your lid. But yes it does work just have to have the brakes set up right.

I hate antilock brakes personally. I grew up and learned to drive on ice so I know how to use brakes. I rearended a Jeep once because of the antilock brakes on my truck. In my opinion they are not needed if you know how to drive. I wouldn't want them on my Savage either. that be my.02

Sami, I agree with you with them n a full sized car, I feel the same about automatic transmissions in a real car's too 4x4's anyway, both take another range of control out of your hands.

On the RC I think it may be a bit different, Not sure, but at least you can set them up (in the radio). In a real car there are sensors and a computer that watches and if one tire locks up it lessens the pressure on the brake on that wheel. On the RC aBS there is no sensors so to me it isn't really like ABS anyway, Like Crawler said the tx sends pulses, you can set them up for when the abs kicks in (like at 50% of the trigger or whatever% you want it to start) and then how long to release the brake for (mine is from 0.0 to 2.0 seconds and how much pressure to remove from the brakes, .

It looks like to me from the replys, it is a matter of opnion and setting it up to your taste. I will give it a try and let you guys know what I think.

Here's a link to the manual, if you want to check it out, it shows the settings but doesn't say too much else about abs.

Thanks

Well I guess you are right. I just don't like ABS as I feel I'd not have had the accident if I could have gotten more brake control at the time. I realize They were not made for me, but to improve safety for the masses. As we all know alot of people out on the roads REALLY cannot drive. As for RC's I see the purpose here as well and they may be great. For me I don't race and really don't need the brake control. If my truck flips over forward It doesn't matter to me. I did not mean to come across as ranting about ABS, If that is the way it was received, I apologize. Go ahead and beat me with a traxxus I can take it.:whipit:

yup i remember being a teenage boy...and what we did and how we thought....... and now that i have a teenage daughter i almost wanna slap every teenaged boy i see when I'm out somewhere with my daughter...just cuz i know what they are thinkin... lmao

Anyways......... back on topic i just recenly built a thunder tiger ST-1 pro car (kit version) for my brother and the radio system we used had abs...... a bit of pain to setup but once done they worked pretty good.....btw in exchange for building his kit he gave me a regular ST-1 with 2 gallons on it
