figure I'm gonna need 5-6 hrs for breakin..and a fresh jug ..so the rtb can set up..buy some 15%(thats what they recomend???) i use 20%12..but I'm gonna do as they say ..take my time and see if this motor will last longer then my axials!..
any breakin input is welcome ..:Xfingers:

My friend Nick from another forum is an expert with StS30's his email is - [email protected] (msn messenger too)... He and his friend do modding of STS30's and they know IN AND OUT of it.. His friend (engine modder) said that the Ribbed Pipe is a really bad way to ruin your good engines, specially the StS30 as it is a race engine... Take my advice and email nick before you start it up... He'll give you some good pointers.. Tell him your a friend of Jamie (he only knows my throught msn messenger too)..

Good Luck!

u need to get a 0702 sts pipe or a 0403 sts pipe .... I run the 0403 myself

here is a link to the pipes

0702

yea these engines do need the sts pipe to run best... Also I would only use the brakin fuel that your going to run for the life of the engine... And wouldn't braking that engine in w/ that pipe ...

Take your time w/ this engine b/c it will take your longer then 5 to 6 hours, for brakin. It will take AT LEAST a gallon of fuel for proper brakin. YEA A GALLON ! also tuning.... tune in 1/16 increments. no more if you stat turning the hsn by anymore then the 1/16 YOU WILL miss the sweet spot

Please keep us posted on that mill and if you have questions you know where to find us

ya ..I read that before about the gallon..so 20%/12% is ok??,and I just bought the 0403 off ebay..thanks again MR Jester

np bud how much did you pay for the pipe and the engine? and where did you get the engine. With that pipe you might have to mod it it work.. only b/c some of them are made for buggies and its desinged to mount on the left side of a truck not the right side... You will need to grind a flat spot on the header.. no big deal tho

edit... oh yea that 20 % will work fine...

ya I ran the ribbed on my Axial..its loud and seams to rob a little bottom end ..but could have been many other things..

So I started the break in tonight, 58F and windy
just a few tanks..heres what Ive got so far,..........10(2min) idles,peak temps 120f---187f..cooling to 80f between cycles....(2tanks) ..........rev..1/4-1/2 throttle (on a stand) 1 tank..peak temp160f.......1 tank drivein 1/4-1/2 ...then my transmitter died..so i will contiue tomarrow..still runnin really rich........fuel...blue thunder 20%N 10% oil..hope thats ok .

just remember take your time w/ this engine. you should not go half throttle yet. wait about 9 or 10 tanks... ALSO VERY IMPORTANT !!!!... always after you run the engine, put the piston to BOTTOM DEAD CENTER!!!... more important during brake in.. put a little note on the radio box or sometime to remind you. This is how I lost all the pinch in my sts and warped the piston and sleeve . so learn for my mistakes bro

Actually from what I'V seen and read, the Ribbed pipe is a Pipe that gives a boost at the bottom end.. And the Polished is For MID-HIGH..

weird..i put it on the sts tonight and it really opened up the topend

now Ive finally got things sorted out ..my problem all along has been to lean on the low speed and rich on the high speed ..now both my axial and sts are runnin strong, crisp, and 200-220F instead of 260-290F..I leaned the low speed thinkin it was great popin snappy wheelies ..now i can run both truck almost empty without breakin 240F....!!! savys alllllll good!!!!!
