Mates,

Those of you who own trucks and truggies from manufacturers other than HPI, have you come across spider gears and sun gears that are the same size as those used in Savage XL differentials?

I have gone through 2 sets of HPI87193 in a week. Running XL FLUX stock motor and gearing. Yet, the sun gears either break in pieces or chip. A friend is having the same problem. We most likely got our orders from the same batch of HPI87193 which turned out to be below manufacturing specs. God knows how long before we can get good ones again.

I am currently using some old Chinese gears I bought years ago for €3 a set and they are holding up much better...

Any info would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you have the XL Flux without the center diff... If That's the case, the gears are not the problem... In the beginning I had the same problem with my XL Flux, once I installed the center diff, I replaced the grease with 200k diff fluid, never had to replace any gear again.

I do have a center diff. There really is something wrong with these sun gears. They feel too brittle. I took a broken part to the grinding wheel and you immediately feel that it is made of different steel...

Taiwan cheese! 🤣😂
Laugh all you want now mofo!!! But soon enough, freedom will demand of us to hang our cars on the wall & safely dispose of of the LiPo packs and sail the high seas so we could all die tragically on the beaches of Formosa...

You probably thought Formosa is a type of french cheese?
Taiwan cheese! 🤣😂
Jokes aside, do you know anything better than these Taiwan cheese gears? Mitsubishi Heavy Industries? Already checked Raytheon but they charge a hefty shipping fee...
