Adjusting 2-speed trans

I've been driving my Savage a lot lately and decided I wanted to lower the 1-2 shift point. I checked out the manual, and as far as I can tell, you are supposed to use the lower hole to make the adjustment...well, I can get the allen in, but it doesn't seem to do anything...what gives? Any advice? Thanks.

you have to align the two notches. its tough to explain kinda. try this

Yeah, I know about aligning them so that I can see the holes, but when I insert the allen, it won't turn the adjustment screw.

Wait a second, I could have sworn the manual says to use the lower hole..but that link states that is for 3rd gear...do you use the top hole for 2nd gear???

It is the lower allen key out of the two that you adjust.Turn it anti-clockwise to make the change earlier,clockwise to make it later.
