49T Spur Gear

I bought this spur gear (part # 76939) for my xl and when I go to put it on I have to use some washers to bring out the main hexed washer for it to work. Is this normal or did I buy the wrong one? I haven't driven it yet but it seems like it would work. Just a couple a washers extra. Thanks Terry

That is actually the old style spur gear. It will probably work, but you need the old still slipper clutch for it to be in the right position. 77094 is actually the right gear number. I have gotten these mixed up before.

You need HPI part #s 8600, 86801 & 86802. It is a totally different slipper setup than the XL.

I know that this is old thread, but I have the original savage x with F4.1 and it has the dual slipper clutch. I've just realized because I've been looking for new gears that HPI changed the slipper assembly. Why did they change the slipper? Is the newer single slipper better than the dual slipper?
