I picked up a Futaba 3PM with R603FF Rx. I'm using it in PPM mode so I have to set the failsafe everytime I turn it on. It is super easy to do so that is not a problem in itself, but my question is about running with an additional failsafe. I have a Duratrax failsafe on the truck which works so far with the new setup. I have not done extensive testing yet but it does what it is supposed to do. Will running both the Duratrax FS and the one on the Tx have any undesired affects??? If not, is it better to run both or is it overkill?

just overkill.

test your 3pm failsafe to make sure its working tho, i.e. get the truck running (at idle of course) and shut the Tx off. brakes should lock up.

Thanks again. I'll have to unplug the duratrax FS to test the Tx FS. It is so easy to set it I might run them both just for the heck of it.

Running both is over kill and not needed. The OEM one on the 3PM is superior. If you get digital servos you can run in the other mode I can't remember the name thinking its like FSI or something which has better response as well and the FS can be set to always be on.

Yeah I'm gonna do that after i get digi servos but that may not be for a while. BTW it's called HRS or High Response System, I think. Just got my truck back and got the 3PM, now I'm gonna try and get the PRC 250cc midtank conversion that I looked into before my truck got wrecked. Just got into the 3D heli thing too so my funds are being pulled in too many directions at once LOL!

LOL Thanks HRS mode there ya go for some reason FSI sounded right but couldn't figure out what it meant and I didn't have either of my 3PM's available at the moment, LOL.

i may be mistakin ,but from what i've read, on my 3pm, i think the failsafe only works in HRS mode..

No when in HRS you can set it and forget it, but when in PPM you have to reset your FS position each time the Rx is turned on and off. I have a new question now though, does the 3PM Rx sense low battery in the truck and kick the FS on??? I had a wierd issue where my FS kept turning on every few seconds when the truck was like 10 feet away from me. The only thing I can think of is that my Rx batt (hump pack)was getting low. I knew it was getting low but I did not think the 3PM's FS detected that, now I'm not so sure. I have the manual but just thought I would ask since I was typing anyway LOL.

don't think it detects rx voltage, but low voltage coukd account for signal-loss which would trigger fail safe.

That was one thing I was thinking about. If the Rx was running out of juice then it could be having a hard time receiving a signal, and then cutting out due to weak signal. Either way it worked when my batt got low. Kind of cool LOL. I won't let it get that low again just in case.
