3 speed

I'm new with this and just installed a 3 speed, but i only get 2 shifts. i don't think that i am runnig the right spur gear combo. i still running the same spuer that was with the 2 speed. can somebody tell what gearing i should use to get good overall performance. thanks ken

btw it's a savage.25 stock motor.

when u first start off its already in a gear, that would be first gear.

2 more shifts is 2nd and 3rd.


your gearing should be working fine, i not sure what the stock gearing is on the .25


but you should be fine in that area.


read the manual for the tranny, and play with the shift points to get them where you want them.

I run a 15/49 combo, which seems to be a good combo for the type of running I do...which is mostly bashing anway. The combo you want depends mainly on what you want to do with your Savy. Are you planning on mostly bashing or do you plan to race her at a track? This *can* be a big factor in deciding what combo you want to use.
