Hey guys. I would consider myself pretty new to the R/C world and I have owned my savage for about a year now. I am getting ready to drop in my new OS 30VG motor and was wondering how much of a differance I would see if I went 3 speed tranny at the same time. The guy at the hobby shop close to me is telling me I will see huge gains and I need it. He has a savage with a 3 speed but I have never had a problem kicking his a*s. What do you guys think? I am straight up basher with it and put it through hell. I have destroyed two trannys up to this point. Thanks.

2 Speed- It will get out of the hole faster and take the lead..

3 Speed- it will take it's time getting out of the hole and then kick into 3rd and take off..
(Correct me if I'm wrong)

Stick with a 2 speed..

i can't agree with you there........the 3 speed has a lower first gear than the two speed. i've ran 3 speeds in every savage i've owned and love em. if you have you r trans set up right....nothing can touch it in my opinion. the last three 3 speeds came out of an XL......and they seemed to be set up perfect for the Picco i was running. they wind in each gear perfect and shift at the right times. between us 5 guys that own nine savages....7 with 3 speeds....we haven't had ANY problems and haven't adjusted anything. i say go ahead with the 3 speed.

on another note.....i had an OS 30VG in a savage.....and it wasn't a revving engine like a .28......so with that engine you may be better off with a 2 speed.
