The X case is much better than the 25 case simply due to the fact that you can change the gear engagement of 2nd gear much easier. With the X case you just remove the top like 6 screws and you can change it with the old case you have to remove the whole trans and disassemble and change it. The X case is def worth it.

87257 is the Xss/ Xl case with the reinforced parts and the 6 screw top access. Better than a stock x case..

As far as I know there are only 2 different trans cases. The one of the Mid year X and newer or the old 25 style, unless I'm mistaken.

This is a Xss/ XL case

Both cases have the easy 6 screw top. but one is reinforced. It was a Xss option part but looks like they rolled it into the X RTR line at some point.
If your X has the ribbing on the top were the spur gear comes out of the case get the kit and save the money...
