3 speed help please

hi, recently installed a k4.6 motor and 3 speed into my savage and i could do with a little help setting the 3 speed up , when i take off i can't seem to hear it shift into second and after quite a distance it eventually shifts gear with quite a clunk and then takes off usually lifting the front wheels , i don't know if it is shifting into 2nd really quickly and i'm not hearing it ?

any thoughts and does anyone know what settings would be best for the gearbox adjustment screws ?

thanks a lot , i've had my truck for around 8 years it's a savage 21 , just recently started running it again after fitting the new motor,3 speed and some other bits

Page 35 gives HPI's setup intructions. I run a 3 speed in my nitro and recently tried it out in my flux. I haven't had much luck adjusting it tho.

To adjust a three speed you have to take it apart to get to the screw for the 1-2 shift point the 2-3 you can get to from the outside. Step one screw in the 2-3 set screw so that it won't be able to shift to third and test to see how it shifts. Adjust the 1-2 shift point till you have it shifting in the top 1/3 of the motors power band. Once you havethe 1-2 shift point set back out the 2-3 screw 1/8 turn at a time till it starts shifting into 3rd than fine tune it 1 hour at a time till it shifts at 2/3 it's power band.

thanks very much for the replies guys , that's a good idea to lock out the 2nd to 3rd shift and get the 1st to 2nd shift sorted first , will also have a look at that hpi setup manual
