ok i see alot of threads out here that pepole have a shift problem.and cant find the stock shift point.well the hpi manual says the screw should be all the way counter clockwise and flush, then 1/1/2 turns in clockwise.
THIS IS WRONG. my truck wont even shift at that setting i was in 2nd all the time.the right setting was all the way in clockwise to the screw is snug.then 1/1/2 out conter clockwise.now my truck shifts great.i also bought a brand new trans and that to is set the same way

There are alot of things that come into play when setting the trans shift points to "stock settings". What motor your runnin, gearing (SG/CB), rims/tires size, and also whether or not the motor is tuned right and runnin close to optimum performance. If your runnin a bone stock truck, then yes, the "stock settings" will be close to what the manual says. Take my truck for example, running the same motor, same gearing, and same shift points, and same tune on 40 series Pro-line low-pro Bowties 9 on commando beadlocks), it went throught the gears really quick. Like 10ft I'm in 2nd then another 10-15ft I'm in 3rd, and then another 20ft the motor is wound out already. Just by switching to the Cen GST 7.7 rims/tires, each gear was holding close to the peak RPM before shifting to the next gear. Runnin the 40 series bowties, I was gettin a top speed of 36mph via GPS. And by switching to the Cens, I was gettin a top speed of 43mph via GPS.

Cheers Jay (noob)

if you look at the left side of the transmission there is a rubber plug you have to remove to get to the adjustment screws, here's a pic of what I'm talking aboutView attachment 3629 Sorry not a great pic "cell phone" but you can see were it is...... hope this helps............

Hi thanks for the pic.
Ive got that (2 not 3 holes) inside i can see no screws only the teeth of gears???!!!
Jay

you have to spin the tires while looking through the holes and you will see the screw come around, hope that makes sense lol

Do you have the manual for the truck? If not, go to HPI's website and you can download it for free. Everything Shaun has said is true, but you have to be careful as to which screw you adjust cuz there are 2 right next to each other. 1 is for the clutch adjustment and the other is what holds the clutch assembly on the trans shaft. If you can't download a manual, let me know here and I'll see if I can post one up this weekend for you.

there should be a thread that has all the manuals in one place oh here by megabyteme if not hpis website or even rc documnets will have it

Thanks guys
Ive already downloaded a manual for the savage 3.5 it looks close enough to what Ive got!! I don't know exactly what my truck is most who i have asked think its a 25
