    What makes a motor great?

it may be cheep but i think its worth the price of even a cheep hardened spur gear vs down time, i just cant help but see that plastic piece breaking 5 min into a bashing session.

I too would buy these gears if they went up for sale. please correct me if i am wrong but as for things breaking down further down the line, the only thing left after the tranny is the diff's and am told that the stock XL diff's are prtty tough to start with, and i already have the dog...

Building new set of diffs! Sugestions?

I finaly destroyed my front diff and thought that i might as well build up a new set and beef it up since i am trading out the stock k5.9 for a modded pico. Never rebuild my diffs before and could use some experince as to what parts i should buy and what others should be salvaged from the...

And on top of that maby switch out the third...

    What makes a motor great?

The only problem with that idea is that i am currently stationed overseas at Osan south Korea and i have not a clue where to start. I don't have much access to machine tools (power drills bench presses, weapons of mass destruction you know "tools") i might be able to get my hands on a dremmel...

    What makes a motor great?

so there is no way to make it work? I have to settle for the regular version? Or is there a way to make it work. I'm not to worried about the .1 Hp loss just the dramatic drop in RPM,s i think its 38500 to 34000 which in my eyes is serious enough to try and make the other one work.

    What makes a motor great?

I like what i am hearning about the LRP .30competition. "STUPID QUESTION ALERT!" I don't see a pull start on the competition version and i cant tell if it uses a rotto start type mechanism to get it to turn over.

    What makes a motor great?

Alright what would be a good mill out there for my basher. Cost aside what would be the best. Wher i go bashing is pretty much a quarry with 20+/-ft hill of all types of material, I wnna be able to haul @$$ to the top of that pile and launch it off of it with ease, and if i screw up the...

    What makes a motor great?

So what advantages go to the big block (+.30). If we looked sports cars: an american V8 vs a asin made inline 4/6 "usualy" the power off the line would go the american V8, whereas in the longrun the inline4/6 would overtake the larger engin becuase it cant rev as high. so if i were to...

    New clutch with minimal modifications

I am running the k5.9 that came with my XL but i have slapped on a CEN 7.7 tuned pipe to give it a little more pep in its step, I think it may be able to handle a new clutch bell with a few more teeth. What do you think?

    New clutch with minimal modifications

Why would modifying the collet give you later engagement? Is it becuase you have less adjustment to the spring tension?

    New clutch with minimal modifications

so your saying when you install this withougt modifying the collet it should run better? Also did you change to a different size clutch bell to make it work.
