New Savage XL - lost power and smelt of melting plastic

Like bifftit said, lock the nut down and you won't have to worry about pads wearing out or melting. But, if you do, NEVER land jumps while on the throttle or brakes. Broken diffs or gears somewhere in the drivetrain will happen.

    Is this ok???

Only have 2 here & haven't been to them for quite some time. Plus, don't remember seeing any nitro related items

    Is this ok???

I know that, but not sure if I would trust buying a pre-modded motor from ebay. Plus, the fam needs Christmas present ideas from me.

    Is this ok???

Well, I had a chance to run the old girl with the hurt motor. Ran like crap & hard to keep runnin unless the idle was high. Haven't pulled the motor yet to give it a thorough inspection. But, until then, looking @ a new motor. Choice is either LRP ZR.28 Spec 4 or the SH PT2802A-P3. Would like to...

    Is this ok???

Well, gonna find out sometime this week. Gonna bring it to work with me & try runnin it @ lunchtime & see how it goes. Does anybody know if there are any nitro engine modifiers still in business? If I need a new mill, would like to possibly get it modded.

    Is this ok???

That was the good thing I liked about using Byron's fuel when they were in business. My truck sat for 4 yrs, maybe a little more/less and I didn't prep it for storage or anything. Sitting in my garage the whole with ambient air temps in the 100s for 7 months out of the yr. Had to pull the tank &...

    Is this ok???

Will do. I almost always post damage pics. If I do need to get a new mill, I hope I can find one I like. Not many choices out there now a days. But, before I can get that new mill, gonna have to get rid of a truck first.

    WTB - Picco P3 .28 button head

Instead of starting another new thread for the same thing, gonna refresh this one. Still in need of one if anybody has one or knows of one.

    Is this ok???

I'm still gonna run it and at least see how it runs. Tried searching for a piston & sleeve and couldn't find any. Plus, Crash modded that mill for me yrs ago. Hate to have to start over with a new one, especially a non-modded one. I really like how this one runs and can hang in the gears longer...

    Is this ok???

Been out the RC game for quite awhile now and looking to possibly get back in a little bit. Had to replace the pull start on the Axial and decided to open up the engine and see how bad it was from sitting for 4+ yrs. I thought the piston was @ TDC when taking the backplate off & the backplate...

How to make your suspension more durable; bump stops

Been doing this for some time now, but with better tubing. Go & get some automotive fuel/vacuum tubing from an auto parts store. Advantages -- Multiple size I.D. tubing to choose from, more tubing length for less $$, stiffer and won't compress compared to nitro fuel tubing, can be used inside &...

    New exhaust actually a upgrade?

@ TimmyB1183 I also suggest that you replace the exhaust manifold gasket on the motor with a new. They wear out pretty quick and start to leak. When that happens, you'll have a hard time tuning the engine.

    New exhaust actually a upgrade?

That exhaust will work for your savage. May need to rework the exhaust hanger. I just use a wire clothes hanger to make my exhaust hangers. Been usin the same hanger for yrs and and it's still the same shape as when I first installed it.

    project coming along

Not sure if your gonna find bigger alum wheels than the standard size ones, I've been out of the RC game for awhile. But, I do remember that the 23mm hex wheels that were standard on the Cen GST 7.7 where the largest wheels I've seen in person.

Help Identifying Engine and Run-Away Issue

The "3.5" stamped on the block has something to do with 1 of the specs if the motor. I can't remember which one though. As far as the model/version you have, when it comes time, try to find some "parts" trucks on ebay or someplace like that and start replacing the front & rear differentials &...
