Well I was going to shimm the diffs in my Savage X and noticed that there are no shims between the ring gear and bearing. I read through the posts and well here is the link that Jeremy gave me. http://www.midmad.com/ek4/shim/ek4shim.html you can see from the pic that there are two shims on the pinion shaft well my savy doesnt have them. Don't even see them in the manual. Don't know what to do. To shim or not to shim that is the question.

That is part of proper shimming. Pinion and both bearings need to be done. Also allot of the posts around here show the bearings shimmed in toward the diff... "FAIL" you shim them out toward the case. This is to give the bearing max support on the outter race. Shim them in and you take this away. I use math to shim my diffs to .03 HPI and .05 CEN that is SAE But its is too long of a process to type out and explain. So I just keep my mouth shut in this department as I don't think I could explian it to the point most wont screw it up.

Well I noticed that the Savage X kit has a spare parts bag and I found the shims I need to shim the case. Yes If I'm correct in saying this the shim goes on the diff case then the bearing. (bearing moved away from the diff case) hope thats right. I'm ****ed because I don't have the shims I need for the pinion. I used the spare shimes to shim the diff so I don't have alot of side to side play. How much play should there be? I mean there is a little play, I installed two of the .2mm shims and it seemed to take away most if not all of the play. Just wondering if I should remove one shim from the ring gear.
