I'm new to r/cs and i bought a used savage 25 and it only turns right good and barley turns left also front wheels seem a little wobbly.... i don't really know what to do to fix it lol
 
welcome to the forum Jay. can you post up a pic? could have somethin bent linkage-wise or a rock or stick jammed in there. servo could be toast also.
 
welcome to hpisf jay. I'm gona say that it is probably a servo for the weak steering .does it seer well in both directions with the wheels off the ground? the woble is caused by play in the steering linkages or slightly bent rims. but a picture tells a thousand words

if that is the ruck turning it that far then your servo is weak. good recomendation for a good servo on a budget would be the hitec 645mg. that will turn your wheels with no problems.
 
Welcome to the forum! Also try to mount all the tires with the tread faceing the same direction....will take away some of that wobble too.
 
Welcome to the forum Jay..I use one of those hitec 645 servos and it made my Savy trurn alot better than with the stock HPI one...
 
Welcome to the forum!. Are you using a batt pack or a hump pack? I cant see the pics until tonight when I get home(stupid work puter) but weak batts are also a contributor to slow turning wheels also

+1 Q~, i was wonderin the same. are you runnin' a hump pack battery or the 4 AA batteries? also, is that your stock servo in the truck now?

i run the hitec 645 mg also, but you should be getting more 'yank' than that with the stock servo (even despite it being a crappy servo). I'm thinkin battery power may be the culprit here.
 
ok i put that hitec 645 mg servo in and my steering is reversed i was trying to see if it was on my remote but i don't how to my remote is hitec aggressor srx
 
also on the old 25 the servo saver was on the servo I up graded mine to the new style works way better. And the bearing upgrade works excellent too! cheep upgrades I would do at the same time. The hitec 645 mg is the same servo I am using. when u replace the steering servo move the old steering servo to your throtle. It's way better than the throtle one.
 
i didnt notice the other posts but i am only using 4 aa batteries I'm going to upgrade to the hump pack soon and I'm going to try the new servo saver with the bearings but it does turn alot better with the new servo...thanks for the suggestion guys i will post how it works might not be for a while though lol these r/c are expencive but fun lol

I assumed something had got caught somewhere underneath since my servos aren't more than 5 hours old. I also had a fresh hump pack in there.

So I picked it up repeatedly for about 15 minutes, moving the wheels side to side manually, but nothing was in there that I could see. Then eventually, I noticed they started having their full range of motion again. Now it works fine. I don't know if there was something caught in it or not but they've been fine ever since.

your gonna want to get a 6v pack to get the most power available into your servos

did you check your servo-saver?
 
I had the same problem at one point. I'd already thrashed my stock servo on the first day I had it running, so I had already upgraded to the Hitec 645. While I was out bashing I noticed the same problem, it would turn fine one way, but barely turn the other direction. It turned out that the plastic servo arm had started to strip out, but still had enough grip to turn the wheels, it had just gotten stuck off to one side. If you're still running the stock plastic servo arm, check the teeth and see if they look like their worn. If so, it would be a good idea to upgrade to an aluminum one or maybe a kenbrough servo saver that's got some deeper teeth in it. When you're getting ready to install the new arm, make sure you turn on your truck and the radio and put that servo arm on there when the servo is centered, otherwise you're going to have the same problem.
 
i change to the servo saver from the X and got a hump pack and it turns good lol when i first took it out i flipped it because it turned so sharp but if i get any problems i will check that thanks for the advice
 
I hade a humppack before. I didnt like to have yet another thing to charge so i switched to Energizer Lithium Batteries wich last 8 times as long as regular alkaline and have a much greater output. The Lithium batteries are also 33% lighter than alkaline and way lighter than a humppack.

so do you recharge the lithium batteries or toss them?

How many of the energizer batteries do you use?? 4 or 5?
 
i work in a store where we sell these batteries. They are quite pricy. A alkaline AA batterie costs us 0,14usd each to buy from china and the Lithium cost us 1,4usd each. The price to the customer is about twice what we buy them fore.
