on the inside of the clucth bell can you give it a little texture or do you want it smooth as possible?

I always us a tad of scotchbrite to scuff it a little especially when they are new and have a tad of oil in them.

Scotchbrite works good. Be careful how much scuffing you do though, if you create sharp edges it will only gouge the clutch shoes.
