Diff locks

Whats up guys,

I'm new to the site and kinda new to Nitro R/C just so ya know, but I pick up things quick. I was just wondering what you guys think of Diff locks for the Savage X? Right now I just run with 7000 weight silicone diff fluid. Let me know what you think🙂

maybe in the rear, to keep the truck straight on launches with wheelies involved. but if you lock the front, the tires will be fighting eachother in corners and will eventually grenade your front diff. i personally would just run a heavier weight in the front and lock the rear.

Welcome to the forum bro......haven't locked 'em myself, but have heard other members warn about running a locked diff on asphalt or very hard surfaces...just something to keep in mind..

Welcome aboard. I would just recommend you to just use a thick diff oil in the front and rear diff's. Remove the grease and fill with say 50,000wt diff oil. This will be much better than locking them for the simple fact you will save drive train but still get most of the advantages to locking totally. Just my .02

i have a diff locker in my rear...i am also running it in 2wd mode...it is fun but reduced turning. then again i usally never run my truck on concrete or asphalt..that was my main reasoning for wanting a diff locker..

but be warned the first time i put it in i was on about tank #2 and lost power to my rear tires...broke on of the axle pins and gear in to pieces...hence why i am running in 2wd mode for the time being

Put 100,000 wt diff fluid in. Has anyone ever "poured" that? haha.

I agree with Jason, Use the 50,000 in the front and rear and you'll get the best of both worlds. The diff lockers are ok in the rear on a loose track to keep it hooked up and going straight but they are hard on the driveline if you get alot of traction. Hope this helps you. I just got a really nice Diff lock for my savage from a nice guy on the forum (RPM160) The companie that makes it is Vertigo RC this set up is easy and SOLID! u also have the option to go back and use your old set up if you don't like posi don't JB it! Cheers! :cheers:

i used wheel bearing grease from an automotive store in my savvy it doesnt lock it but slows the slip and still allows to turn fairly smooth:Radioactive:
