I am relatively new to the RC world. I have been the proud owner of a savage x for approximately 6 months. I have upgraded nearly everything on my truck with the exception of the radio system and the servos, specifically the steering. I am completely lost in this area. I need the idiots guide as to what my options are and what I should do in this area. I don't race often, more of a basher. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated from fellow savage addicts.

well what i did is i moved the servo that was on my steering (stock) to the throttle-brake and purchased the hitec 645mg high torque servo and installed it on my steering!! nitronutzz on ebay has them for like $35 and its a great upgrade, also doing the steering mod makes a big difference as well which is just replacing the stock plastic bushings with the 4 bearing set!! and i might of said it already but WELCOME TO THE HPISF FAMILY MY FRIEND!!!!!

Thank you for the info and the welcome. From all of the sites I have visted, this one bar far is the best. The how-to section is about as good as it gets. This site has been invaluable to me, and the members are top notch. If I may seek some additional advice, what about the electronics? I would like to upgrade my pistol and receivers? How do I know what will work and where to start?

Welcome aboard. We are glad to have ya part of the forum.

As far as a great radio, for budget and top of the line I would go with the Futaba Fasst 2.4Ghz 3PM. They are around $180 and are as good as it gets. Digital as well and has a 10 model memory and are 3 channel. The other popular on is the Spectrum DX2 but lots have had issues and are only 2 channel and hole like 2-3 models in them.

As far as servos go I tend to go with the HiTec 5645MG for Throttle and the 5625MG for steering. These are digital servos and are around $50 each so they are great for a budget person and are strong and reliable.

This is great equipment for a basher and great for a starting to moderate racer.

Welcome to the forum bud! Its great to have you here. Looks like you are off to a great start on your savy.

Just a side note, I moved your thread out of the E-Savage section and over to the Savage garage section. Not a big deal, just keeping the threads in right spot :resp:

Good luck on the upgrades!
