Gearing for the k4.6

Hello all. I just ordered my NS k4.6 (WOOOOOOTTT) and was wondering if I could pick the brains of some other 4.6ers out there. Will my current gearing of 18/49 be ok? It is in the range of HPI's gearing chart for this motor, but I tend to trust real world experiance over paper charts. If not, does anyone have a suggested gearing? OH...by the way...I am running a 3 speed trans with Goliath tires.

Thats a tall gear for that size of a tire. I would drop it to 16 or 17 to give the engine more leverage on those massive meats.

Do you think a 14 CB would do the trick? I happen to have one laying around.

I would agree with Blazer I would probably go with a 16 with those tires, if its getting to many wheelies you could go up to a 17. A 14T is just going to flip you on your lid.

i ran a 16/49 combo when i had my standard length tvp's. i switched to a 14/52 combo and will prolly drop it down to a 14/49 with the extended tvp's. i run the goliaths too.

Great set up needed with Robinson's gears and must make sure set up remains or they will strip as well. Most here stick to plastics because of cost but if that doesn't matter then yeah Robinson's are nice!
